I'm writing this review on my son's phone. I just had a terrible experience with Dr. Santa Maria. To start my story, my husband was battling Covid at home for 4 weeks very ill. Dr. Santa Maria was my husband's VIP Dr. My husband set me up with Dr. Santa Maria to get a covid test. Immediately, he made me sign a bunch of papers. I was very ill when I went, so I just signed everything. Next thing I knew, I was charged $1,800 on my credit card, which he charges my husband and other patients quarterly, not lump-sum. I told the Dr. I was having a very hard time sleeping and dealing with my husband being in the hospital. He perscribed me Xanax twice a day and Trazodone at night. Thankfully, my daughter read up on those two medications that night. She learned that if taken together, they are a DEADLY combination. I later asked him about this and his answer was, "well, I didn't tell you to take them together." While my husband was in the hospital battling Covid, Dr. Santa Maria never called me to let me know how he was doing. I called the Dr. one time in the morning and he later returned my call and was very negative. I asked him to keep me informed on my husband's status, but he never called me again. I asked the doctor why he did not give my husband rendesevere when he first got sick with Covid, and his response was "it isn't protocol". He also told his daughter that they save it for people they know will make it. My husband did end up taking rendesevere, but from the other doctors at the hospital. Sadly, it was too late. My husband passed away in the hospital and Dr. Santa Maria didn't even have the courtesy to call me and give me some sympathy. I have never experienced a doctor so rude and unsympathetic in my life. A doctor from the same Hospital told me that for as long as he knew him, he was a scumbag. I feel that my husband would be with me today, if we never went to Dr. Santa Maria.
