I had a very disturbing experience here to begin my OB care. At 13 weeks pregnant I was scheduled to see the High risk OB for my FIRST prenatal visit. 2 days before my appointment I was called by the clinic and informed that I need to change my insurance because the clinic is no longer taking my insurance as of Jan 2025 or pay out of pocket for my upcoming visit. After this 5pm call I immediately got on the phone with Covered California to change my insurance to one that the clinic does take. What the business manager and the staff I spoke with that day FAILED TO MENTION is that they would continue taking my insurance until April 2025 !! I inadvertently made myself temporarily uninsured for my visit due to the misinformation provided to me by the Newhall Office/business manager. I still went to my appointment since my insurance reassured me that I would still be eligible for coverage until the end of the month and NEVHC billing department told me that I am still eligible for service with Anthem. Day of appointment, the Business manager pulls me to her office and tells me Anthem is no longer active but after calling La care, my new insurance is indeed active. Even if La care confirmed I was covered, the office refused to see me because this entire ordeal took up my entire appointment time. All of this could have been prevented if the office manager was actually knowledgeable in the policy set before her. She poorly defended her incompetence by saying they were only informed this the day of my appointment. This is false because the day before my appointment I spoke with their billing department and they were confused as to why the business manager would tell me that I would need to pay out of pocket for my visit. NEVHC NEWHALL clinic is responsible for delaying my prenatal care. And shame on the business manager for telling me “I would be more worried if you were further along”. If their business manager is this misinformed then I wonder about the rest of the staff here.
