I came in for regular labs to the Norman regional at Moore. A process that shouldn't have taken more than 30 minutes had the lab at Waterwood at SW 119th St , Oklahoma City, OK 73170 been open.
First of all, I wait in line only to be asked to register. I have been in the Norman Regional hospital systems ever since I delivered my first born 30 years ago.
The registration process was asked to be done on my cell phone. Very good process.
The first glaring mistake, my insurance information was incorrect. I haven't had that insurance for over 3 years.
Second, I was told that this elaborate agonizing registration process was adopted 8 months ago and now everyone has to re-register everytime they came in to any of the Norman Regional hospitals.
Fortunately, I am technically advantaged and was able to complete this in 20 mins. The old lady waiting next to me was in tears at the amount of paper work she was handed.
Next step, after I finish registering, I wait. When I got called, I went in to meet the processor, only to find that she had to do the registration again. Why? She said in frustration ' this system, it deletes information'.
Very frustrating. Waiting once again.
If this is the state of insureds with private insurance, I hate to think what it would be for MEDICARE and MEDICAID FOLKS.
30 mins have passed and I am still waiting for a simple lab work. I had to take time off from work only because of the inefficiencies and errors at Norman Regional. How will the system compensate me for my lost time?
If only I could get on the IT team of the Norman regional systems and contribute my modernization and efficiency processes to improve the system!!
