Highly disappointed with Dr. Bitra. I have multiple brain lesions, lost over 20 lbs, and was diagnosed by a previous neurologist with migraines even though relapsing remitting MS runs in my family and I have been having all the very typical MS symptoms. I have not been able to walk good in the past and my boyfriend has had to help me with ADLs.
I had taken the time off and drove six hours to my appointment and paid to stay the night in Portland. I was told the morning of my appointment that I was scheduled with the wrong doctor. They said that Dr. Bitra would do my first appointment then I would see an MS specialist.
Dr. Bitra ran some tests on me which including pricking me with a tooth pick and said that all my previous test results were normal (which is funny because they don't even have the records from my neurologist and they use different systems, I checked and saw which MRI's she went over and they were the wrong ones) and skipped over my brain lesions.
She asked if I drank water. Told me that my physical tests I had completed were normal and had the audacity to say "You did better on your physical tests than I would've done", even though I almost fell and struggled through the test that included walking on my heels/squatting (witnessed by my mother and sister).
Dr. Bitra couldn't get me out of her office fast enough and showed no care. I had higher expectations for OHSU.
When I asked why we didn't go over all of my other issues like reoccurring UTI's/bladder, bowel problems, balance, and vision problems she began to lecture me. She was not helpful and didn't want to send me to someone who knows MS.
Dr. Bitra showed no empathy, no emotion, and was argumentative and unhelpful. I was referred to OHSU with high hopes and left in tears.
After I made a formal complaint about Dr. Bitra, OHSU would not acknowledge their mistakes. They stated she followed procedure even though all she did was poke me with a toothpick and argue. They did not request medical records and stated I had "Poly somatic symptoms" (meaning multiple symptoms that were in my head).
If you google Dr. Bitra she has horrible reviews. Do not go to this doctor. I wish I did my research for a second opinion, after she stated I have poly somatic symptoms and refused to do any additional testing other than a nerve test I find it difficult to be taken seriously by any other neurologist. Go elsewhere this place is a joke.
In my imaging from my local neurologist I have 3 brain lesions and deterioration in my spine, due to my families history this is why I wanted a second opinion. She documented things incorrectly, just one of many examples is I told her I fell and she wrote I had no falls.
I go to physical therapy now and I was told I have extreme differences in weakness in my entire body including my legs.
