My journey with TMJ disorder started around 2015-2016 after I suffered an injury to the face and began to experience extreme headaches, jaw pain, limited jaw opening, ear pain, and eye pain. Through the years, I tried every possible solution ranging such chiropractic work (which only provided temporary relief) , and at a certain point even considered surgery due to the relentless pain. However, I did not feel comfortable with surgery, so I ended up back to square 1. At this point I learned that there are circumstances where people experience jaw pain because of a bad bite, so I contacted my orthodontist, Dr. Dopp with Spillane and Reynolds, and after my examination, she told me that an average person can open their mouth to around 2 inches, however, I could not even open my mouth half an inch (an extreme case of TMJ disorder). Dr. Dopp seeing the severity of my case referred me to Dr. Haddad, and I have to say, going to Dr. Haddad was one of the best decisions I have made.
The entire environment of the office is very welcoming and comforting, along with an amazing staff who care about your wellbeing and your concerns of any aspect of your treatment. Dr. Haddad is a great doctor who actually understands the pain that people suffer due to this disorder and is willing to go out of his way to help you out with a smile on his face! Michelle made the entire experience even more comfortable, making it so that the appointments could accommodate my schedule and to make sure I was comfortable through the entire process. After getting my orthotic, I started to notice differences right away, except for the initial discomfort of the orthotic, and I made sure to wear it 24/7 and saw that my ear pain and headaches had lessened, and I could gradually open my mouth more. It has now been over a year and a half, and I can eat and drink as I please with no pain, and now I am in the process of a more permanent solution of getting braces to fix my bite now that my jaw is in the correct position.
All in all, I have had one of the best experiences with Dr. Haddad and his staff, and one of the most effective solutions that I have chosen for my pain. Would definitely recommend Michigan Center for TMJ and Sleep Wellness to anyone who wants to get the best treatment available for their TMJ disorder pain! 5 stars out of 5!
