I was a patient of another vision office here in Kyle for 5 years before I found my new Optometrist less than 3 miles from my home. I am a one doc for the rest of my life kind of person and I immediately knew I was blessed when walking in Dr. Meinekes office.
A humble office with a trusting vibe. I saw the neccesties as they relate to an eye doctor and that was it. Where was the flat screen blaring horrid news or animations too loud on eternal repeat? Where were the Hollywood models in glasses that had no prescriptions but were in fashion!??? The Keri coffee maker? I immediately respected the decor as I knew I wasn't paying for "an image" of eye care but just for actual eyecare.
The receptionist met me with a humble down to earth smile instead of an attitude of a vouge publishing magazine editor. There was no attempt at all to trick me with hidden tests that every doc will try to sell. It was straight forward. Apt was on time and a clear professional atmosphere with educated People that cared about my vision tests and concerns was presented to me. I felt comfortable when talking with the Dr. because he was actually listening! Eye contact, authentic diagnosing was happening as opposed to being ignored before by other optometrists who didn't listen or care and had me in an less than I give a **** eye prescription which was wrong for 5 years.
After my exam I was given a pair of contacts to put in and I was almost in tears. I could see sharp again with no blurry doubling up!!! I was excited and giddy in public which is normally NOT at all the case. I was happy, appreciative of the care I received, appreciative of being listened to and all for a more than fair price. I walked out there smiling and went outside and saw cloud formation and clarity again, individual leaves on fake trees!
Until that moment with a correct prescription for vision, I had no basis for comparison. I didn't realize how much I was missing. I know now. I had accepted what I was told. I'm old and vision is the first to go. Consider Laser eye surgery. ROFL consider letting car salesman optometrist with high end prices and cheap exams to lure you in, program lasers for my eyes! Are you kidding. How about you salon eye centers program processes that are efficient for patients and not name brand marketing schemes with commission.
If you are looking for an eye doctor, Meineke and his equally skilled and devoted wife, are sure win . Even if you have a doc, go for a second opinion and the experience of being treated like an important patient and person. Real people. Real optometry. Fair with no catch, other than a doc for everytime my eyes need one. Thank you Dr. Meinke for the space you created for me and others to care for our eyes. Thanks you for all the hard work with not enough praise for all you two have sacrificed I'm sure, to be honest, ethical and thankfully, out of fashion with those people that seek to overprice a neccesty needed by so many.
Sincerely,
A happy woman who can see again!!
