MCDONALD EYE CARE ASSOCIATES AND TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION!!! PLEASE READ…. After reading the last review from the parent who was misled by McDonald Eye Care Associates, I feel the same frustration they experienced. McDonald Eye Care Associates seems to lack in their communication on how insurance “covers” their eye appointments and therapy sessions to clients before starting them. If you are running a business, it would be smart to be knowledgeable of what insurance companies actually cover your services and letting your potential or existing clients know ahead of time. Instead we find out almost 2 months later when we received 2 bills within a few days of each other. When I call to ask questions I am met with apologies and sincerity and that she will put me in touch with someone that could help answer my questions. Enter Michelle! She was prompt to call me back the following day. Attempting to ask her questions about insurance she continued to put it back on me that I should call my insurance to see if it is covered. Going back to my first point, it would be ethical to be knowledgeable of this information and letting your clients or potential clients know ahead of time. Instead I find out that next appointment most likely won’t be covered and I need to call my insurance to find out, and the upcoming vision therapy sessions are 20-30 weekly sessions at $150+ per child, and by the way, “they are out of network.” My second call with Michelle, she politely informed me “that information should have been given.” IT WAS NOT PASSED ALONG OR PROVIDED. It is now a he said she said situation and we got stuck paying for very expensive eye exams for vision therapy that we will now be unable to do! Below is the invoice showing the bill that was paid and took almost two months for them to run insurance! The Therapy they provide is probably very beneficial to someone who is doing it to benefit at their sport. This is why we were drawn to it for our 2 sons who are hockey goalies and both have a “lazy eye” and wear a contact for sports. Hockey is an expensive sport as it is and potentially spending another $6000-10,000 out of pocket is a lot; we would not have made these appointments knowing that information ahead of time. Very unprofessional of McDonald Eye Care Associates, and the poor way of treating folks who are misled and made to feel like an idiot when they call to ask questions was really disappointing. This is our first and last experience with this business and just wanted to share it with those thinking of using them in the future!
