I went to see Dr Perino after being sick for 3 months, could barely eat, kept throwing up, and dropped about 40 lbs in that short time. I had been in and out of the hospital in that time due to the severity of it. One of the doctors at the hospital told me he thought it was a rare-ish disease called gastroperisis which could be confirmed with one simple test. I told Dr. Perino about what that doctor said and told him everything that had been happening to me, I felt like he had barely listened. At the end of the appointment, he told me that he believed I was just stressed and he didn't feel the need to run any tests. I believe he came to that conclusion because of my past records with banner health and my anxiety/depression. But thats speculation. I went to a different gastroenterologist up in the valley and after 1 office visit, and 1 endoscopy, they confirmed it was gastroperisis and have already begun helping me get better. I felt I was not heard or even listened to at all by Dr Perino. I talked to a friend who also saw him once and she was told she was stressed too. I dont understand why he didn't want to run any tests to even see if there was a possibility it could be something actually wrong. Maybe because I'm only 25? I don't know. But I suggest going somewhere else if you are having trouble figuring out what is wrong with you.
