I had an appointment scheduled almost a year in advance for my annual well visit. I received a number of texts reminding me of the appointment as the date approached. I confirmed the appointment, took the day off of work, drove all the way to Jackson (I had started seeing the doctor when she was in the another office close to my home). I arrived for my appointment and was told the appointment had been cancelled two days ago and that someone had supposedly called and tried to leave a message but my voicemail was full. I had no missed calls on my call log from the office and I know my voicemail isn’t full because I am always receiving messages. I was told the appointment had been rescheduled two weeks into the future. I also did not get the auto-text that gets generated and sent whenever you make an appointment so I know that that also couldn’t have happened. I asked the lady who was insisting she had called me to call my number and tell me if my voicemail is full. She did, it went to voicemail and she responds with “you must have just cleared you voicemail”. Rather than apologizing for the huge inconvenience of having someone take a day off of work to show up for an appointment that they were never told was cancelled, I am made to feel like a liar or someone unreasonable for being upset. Since I took the day off, I asked if I could be seen by anyone else and was told I could see the Physician’s Assistant.
I told her about the chronic pain in my right shoulder which I had told my regular doctor about previously and was erroneously given a script for the left shoulder. The PA examined the right shoulder and then gave me ANOTHER script for an x-ray of the LEFT shoulder. Thankfully, I caught it before I was leaving. Otherwise, it I would be told to come back and see someone again to get the correct script.
Also, I was told by this PA that if I bring up a condition, this appointment would be billed differently than a well visit and I would get a copay/coinsurance. This was not a new issue being brought up. I just needed a correct script since the doctor wrote it incorrectly last time. Secondly, I have never been told I can’t discuss health concerns during a well visit.
This place is an absolute mess. I won’t be back.
