Heart 2 Heart Birth Center in Sanford

Choosing Heart 2 Heart for my second pregnancy and birth was one of the best decisions of my life. Hands down the best obgyn/medical care I have received and the most beautiful birth experience I could ask for. After having a negative experience at the hospital with my first child I was scared and not sure how I wanted to have my second. I had put off finding an OB for awhile but after a bit of searching I found out about birthing centers which felt like the perfect mix of a hospital and home birth to me. I made my free consultation with Michelle and she gave me my first look at my baby and showed me the 3 different suites. By the end of the first appointment I knew that I wanted to have my baby there. I felt so welcomed, calm, and safe from the moment I walked in and was welcomed by lovely miss Kat; who was so helpful with all of the insurance and paperwork side of things. She explained things in a way I could understand and was always willing to answer any questions. I never felt stupid asking questions to any of them. My appointments never felt like I was being rushed in and out but it also didn't feel like some kind of therapy session like some of the other places I looked into. (Although I feel like it could be if you wanted) The educated mama birthing class they had was aaamazing as well. It not only made me feel so much more confident in my upcoming birth but my partner as well. Michelle is who I had most of my appointments with but I met Betty as well and they never made me feel stupid or like some kind of incubator. They treated me like an actual person not like a medical condition. When I got there Michelle and my birthing assistant, Lisa already had everything set up everything for me they wheeled me into my desired room and jumped right in to make me feel comfortable. They had the bath and warm cloths ready for me (which I stg was THE best thing ever) and they both offered me words of encouragement and advice and never made me feel bad for anything I asked for. I have never felt more supported and safe than when Michelle helped me deliver my boy. She went at my pace and let me listen to my body. From when I knew I needed to push to when I needed a break she was there and talked me through it. After my boy had arrived I was served a delicious breakfast in bed and when I laid down to sleep and woke up the next morning it felt like I was at a hotel and I really got to get the good full nights rest I deserved. Even when Lisa had to come in to do his hourly checks she rocked him back to sleep so as not to wake me. They even washed my pants for me! Just thinking about it makes me tear up honestly I will never be more thankful for anyone or anything in my life. It was still incredibly hard (as birth is) but it didn't feel impossible when I felt supported and listened to by the people around me. Which I did feel listened to, supported and safe every step of the way and I seriously could not recommend a place anymore than I do this one. Walking into H2H I was honestly-terrified. But every appointment eased my fear and when I left with my baby boy I felt more blessed than I ever have. To anyone who doesnt believe they could possibly have a beautiful natural birth experience; I felt the same way but with a bit of guidance and the right people around you I PROMISE it is possible. I gave H2H my trust to help me through it and they went above and beyond. Its been four months since then and I still love my birth story and really felt the need to post my reveiw. Anyone looking for a natural birth with personalized care, H2H is perfect for you. I know these reviews really helped me make my choice so I hope mine does too.. I cannot stop recommending Heart2Heart🥰 The midwives cared for me as a whole person (and really my whole family) from the beginning. I learned SO much from my appointments, messaged when I had questions, and brought my son in to appointments without feeling burdensome. They fostered a peaceful birth I never in my wildest dreams knew was possible. At one point during labor, the midwife heard me breathing through a contraction and calmly called her birth assistant in because she could tell I was nearing pushing. They are AMAZING!!!! They have so much experience. I would recommend a million times over. And they take insurance?!? It’s incredible what feeling comfortable in your environment and believed in can do to change your birth experience. World of difference from my hospital birth.

I had to give my long overdue review for H2H because I think back on the night my son was born so often and my heart is filled with nothing but deep gratitude for Michelle and the assistant that night, Sarah. It was Christmas night of all nights and after an amazing labor and delivery my son was rushed to Winnie Palmer. He was born with a rare genetic condition where his chin was pushed back and his tongue obstructed his airway. He wasn’t out of the womb for all of 3 minutes before Michelle saw his tongue and called for EMS. She was so calm and kept me so calm and he was cared for immediately. If you want a midwife who knows exactly what she’s doing, who is going to keep you informed, and provide you with the best personal care then I would 10/10 recommend for you. If you are looking to be coddled and have your hand held your whole pregnancy and delivery maybe keep searching. Also, shoutout to Kat as well because I was having issues with my insurance and she was persistent and got it all taken care of. Overall, I love this place and walked away with so much more than a great birth experience!

My pregnancy involved multiple ER visits due to a complete placenta pervia which resulted in a c-section. With all that being said, if I have another child, I will be returning. I had multiple friends and family members pregnant at the same time and the care I received was far superior. I felt truly cared for and as a “high-risk” pregnancy, the extra measures taken to ensure my baby and I would be safe was exactly what I needed. Even though I did not receive my dream of giving birth in the center, I was able to come in after my son was born and get the experience as if I did. It was healing for me as I closed my birth journey. What stood out to me was the genuine one on one care. The knowledge I received in my appointments and the birthing classes. This was my first pregnancy and I could have easily been scared out of my mind. But through my entire pregnancy I was met with honestly, options and information. I highly recommend this birthing center to anyone looking for a positive birth experience period.

I love this birth center. I came here for my second baby and was nervous because my first was a hospital and did not go well. The midwife Michelle gave me such much info every visit, never rushed me like they do at regular offices, and empowered me the whole way. It’s great that the person doing your appointments is the one that will deliver your baby. The birthing experience was amazing. Michelle was honest, loving and caring. So much better than the hospital. I had a 10lb 4oz baby with no medications and no complications. I got to the birth center at 8am and was home with my baby by 5pm, feeling good. I will continue going here for my next babies and will always recommend them. thank u Michelle and Kat. U made my birth experience one to remember forever.

Excellent birth center with incredible people. They provide personal and experienced care, and have a lot of resources for additional support. I delivered my first baby in 2024 with a midwife who is no longer there, and was greatly impressed with all she did during prenatal appointments and delivery. They provided all the prenatal care (except for the 20 week in-depth anatomy scan), which was a huge blessing during a first pregnancy where everything was so new. I am returning to deliver my second baby with the head midwife and looking forward to returning to a place that feels like home.

Wonderful experience!! I’m a physician, had 4 children of my own (not all in hospital, I also used a birthing center). I was fortunate to have a daughter and son in law who invited me to participate in the birth of their first child. I was involved from the beginning, going to prenatal appointments, etc. Michelle is a competent, caring medical professional, and also a warm human being who seems to love counseling young families. She communicated well, so we knew what to expect, prepared us for the “worst case scenarios,” and educated us about the process. My daughter had a beautiful and safe delivery. Her postpartum care was excellent, Michelle gave plenty of advice, including breastfeeding, newborn care, and birth control. Additionally, the office staff was warm and friendly, especially Kat. She was well informed about insurance issues and guided us through the process.

If a natural birth is important to you I highly recommend Heart 2 Heart Birth Center. The rooms are beautiful and cozy and equipped with jacuzzi bath tubs which were great for helping me relax in the late stages of labor. I came here to deliver my first baby because of my desire to avoid unnecessary interventions. Although I had some apprehensions about being small and not knowing what to expect from my first labor, I was able to deliver my 8lb 12oz son naturally thanks to Midwife Michelle and the care team at Heart 2 Heart. Birth assistant Kaylee was especially wonderful and so involved and encouraging throughout the 9 hours I was there to deliver and afterward coming to check on me and make sure I ate after the birth. (We stayed over for a night) Pushing was very hard for me because of baby’s size, position, and the fact that I hadn’t been able to empty my bladder the entire time and it lasted so long that Midwife Michelle was beginning to consider a transfer to the hospital, but she talked me through the factors she was considering and continued to monitor baby’s heart rate. Because he was doing so well and I was making progress, she continued to encourage me to give it all I had until he finally came out. It was all I wanted in a birth experience, but may not be for everyone. Having an involved birth partner (my husband), being able to relax through contractions, and trusting to the natural process really made the difference. The midwives are pretty hands off until pushing, letting you direct your labor experience and only intermittently checking you and baby’s vitals. But if you know what to expect this is a beautiful place to give birth and wonderful people to assist in that process! (Also, shout out to Kat, who works the front desk! She is very friendly and personable and calls your insurance so she can give you a quote for pricing when you come to tour)

I love the care I received at heart2heart. Midwife Michelle leads with compassion and wisdom. They advocated for me to have my needs met with my employer as well and went above and beyond to make me comfortable during my labor. I highly recommend this place for any expectant mothers.

Michelle and everyone at the birth center are amazing. Unfortunately I was unable to give birth at the birth center due to needing an emergency c section, but the prenatal care was great. And for the mommas who wind up having to be transferred to a hospital they do bring you in for a rebirth appointment and help you process any trauma from your labor and help give you closure. I would highly recommend Heart 2 Heart for anyone looking to give birth somewhere other than a hospital.
