I am writing to express my concerns regarding the care I have received. With over 20 years of experience as a registered nurse, I feel I have a unique perspective on patient care and safety.
Unfortunately, my recent experience has been disappointing and, at times, alarming. I am living with a rare disorder that causes significant cognitive impairment, chronic pain, and sleep disturbances, which leaves me with limited energy to advocate for my health needs. Regrettably, I have encountered what I can only describe as neglect rather than the comprehensive care I anticipated.
Here are several specific issues I would like to address:
1. **Lack of Follow-Up on Referrals**: After one month of reaching out repeatedly to both your office and the referred specialist, I have yet to receive any updates or assistance. Despite contacting the office manager, who assured me the issues were "handled," I have not received any concrete resolution or guidance. This delay is concerning, as my condition continues to deteriorate with each passing day.
2. **Communication Challenges**: I have experienced rudeness from staff members, which adds to the frustration of an already challenging situation. Additionally, I have encountered difficulties in obtaining clarifications on referrals, as one of my referrals was declined as they don't treat my condition without any communication from your office.
3. **Medication Issues**: I was prescribed medications that I am unable to take on two separate occasions.
4. **Overall Care Environment**: It appears that the staff may be overwhelmed, and I have observed a lack of effective communication among providers and management. This has contributed to an environment that feels unprofessional and does not prioritize patient well-being.
Given the gravity of my condition and the potential for it to become permanent if left unaddressed, I feel compelled to escalate this matter to regulatory agencies to ensure that future patients do not endure similar experiences.
I value the principle of "First, do no harm," a tenet of medical practice that I feel has not been upheld in my case. I hope my feedback can contribute to positive changes in your facility for the benefit of all patients.
