First I want to point out that the doctor herself, did great, took her time with me, and was very kind. She is the reason this facility got the two stars I gave it. The doc along with the cleanliness of the facility are two good things. Before I go into my experience at the actual store I want to first say, I came to this store location, outside of my home town, because I called a week or two prior to check what medicare would assist with when it came to cost. I was told then that they would cover plastic lenses entirely, and that they would cover 59.99 in frames. On my appointment date (after doctor exam), I was told that wasn't the case and that they just cover the doctor exam only and no materials. Other places had told me this, but said each place was different. So I choose Eyemart Optical in Ankeny on false information I had been given over a phone call.My experience when picking up the glasses was an entirely a different feel from my initial visit and exam. The blonde woman, who at that time claimed to be the manager, was anything but friendly when I picked my glasses up. The one who soon would tell me that 'eye mart and eye optical are the cheapy glasses, that are less quality than other stores' (WHAT, your knocking your own business... whelp, that is reassuring)On my initial visit when I picked out frames, the blonde woman was the only person who kept pointing out glasses with jewels and very feminine features even after I told her I was not looking for the 'bling' she kept pointing me to. No issue with this at all, she was just trying to do her job. The two there that seemed to be in training, did listen and pointed out more fitting glasses to my style. Fast forward to the day I picked my glasses up, I put on the glasses and nearly started crying they were so off. I asked the girls about why it was 'smudgy' in the center of my vision and it appeared that the lights had trails and that I was seeing all the lights behind me. Immediately the blonde (manager as she claimed to be after I discussed the issues with her staff) jumped into the conversation from the other side of the room and said 'well they are non returnable now, and I told you that you should have gotten anti reflective.' When I stated that she had not discussed the anti reflective lens with me but we had discussed the different kind of glass due to having seizures and not wanting them to break on my face she said, 'well, there have been a lot of hands in the pot lately with all the training we have been doing, so maybe it was missed.' Shortly after this she stated as said before that my glasses are lower quality than most stores anyway. Not owning up to your mistakes, telling me there is absolutely no way to return them, and putting it on the new staff that actually did a better job than you. It is shameful. I still can not see out of my glasses I paid 130$ for, I have to wear my old ones because I am better able to see out of them than the ones just purchased.I feel as if I was treated for my insurance and not as a patient. Now I am sorely disappointing and still living with glasses I don't see clearly out of.Please, for yourself, take your money and insurance elsewhere.
