Overbooked appointments 3 hours from time I entered until finished. The lady who came with me for my appointment has an autistic grandson she has custody of and did not have that kind of time to wait when the prior 2 EGD's I had in the past took less than half the time. During Covid I was told the Hurricane Spray I normally received for an EGD was no longer used, I was not given this information over the phone when I was called to confirm. I was given Propofol, have low tolerance to anesthesia and pain medications and I experienced a bad lightheaded feeling, headache and vertigo when lying down. It seems the 3 hours stuck in that facility was more hazardous to a high risk person to contract Covid vs using and sanitizing a can of Hurricane spray with a disposable application straw. The staff in the procedure room were joking and laughing around but not one of them opened the curtain to see if I was comfortable, throw the folded blanket over my cold legs, or ask if I needed to use the rest room since there was a long delay. I had to call someone in to ask how much longer the wait will be, total disregard for my friend or my own time like we had all day to wait, but I was rude for voicing my concern, even apologized and staff said I was rude for speaking my mind as nicely as I could in the pain I was in plus nothing to eat or drink for over 14 hours. I did not get to finish doing the errands I needed to get completed since Jacksonville is over 20 miles from my home and I go every 2-3 months, these errands could have been done IF I was made aware of the extended delay and asked to return in a few hours instead of sit on a hard gurney with degenerative disc disease and leave in such pain my mobility issues were amplified with the pain, Dr Eweje had my neck in a bad position 4 days later is it still painful and difficult to turn my head to look to the sides. His staff will ask for a percentage prepayment but not reimburse once all insurance payments are received then say they can't refund from the prior year even if the appointments were Nov and Dec (my first 2 EGD and Colonoscopy end of 2018). I reported this to Medicare and the extra help I receive from the state since it is fraud. Followup: Office stopped taking my insurance but kept calling and emailing for my upcoming appointments. When I called I stated the MD stopped taking UHC, their only suggestion was pay out of pocket 100% or change insurance companies where I have a 800+/month premium, deductible & copays. I will go without my testing until I find another Gastro MD. The last visit to Dr Eweje's office was enough for me anyway. In my records it is stated I have a bulging disc and degenerative disc disease in my neck and lower back. Due to the Propofol, the nurses left my neck so hyperextended to prevent choking all these years later I am still experiencing pain when I have to turn my head to the right, I would not be having these issues if I was given what I asked for, the hurricane spray. I can not recommend this office.
