Not rated 2 because of the dentistry itself but the following: I'm 75, good health, no drug problems or anything like that. My upper front tooth past the canine cracked; half broke off while the other half and the roots stayed embedded in my gums with the nerve exposed. Excruciatingly painful. Called ED of Denver about 7pm. True to their ad saying 'within 24 hours' got me an appt for the next morning. She needed a $25 nonrefundable deposit to hold it, which seemed fair. I have excellent insurance coverage, but after paying the $25 was told I needed to bring $130 at time of service whether I had insurance or not, which was a bit of a hardship. She asked about my pain level and said no worries, they'd give me something to help. Got there early. Great staff. Lyric, the receptionist, was great. Dr Messer, who performed the extraction, obviously a good surgeon. However, AFTER he injected my gums and totally numbed me he THEN told me I needed to pay the whole amount in advance and handed me a list of other providers in case I didn't want to! Well, the numbing is the one thing NOT covered by insurance, and they knew if I said no, it would be worn off before another provider could see me and so I would have had to pay twice for it out of pocket. So BEWARE. Altogether I was forced to pay $555 cash upfront, an extreme financial difficulty for me. However, I was stuck (and they knew it so I felt a bit taken.). Also the pain relief the woman on the phone promised the night before turned out to be nothing except the advice to "go home and take Advil and Tylenol together." It was an extremely difficult extraction which bled profusely the 90 minute drive home and for 30+ hours after. It ruined clothes and pillows and left two gigantic bruises on my lower face and throat (see photo.) I was in horrible pain for 4 days following, especially with needle punctures and stitches in my mouth, and continue to be a week later. Again: nice office, lovely people and quick service, but BEWARE because they do this step by step instead of being honest about the charges up front. I hope this helps people in advance so the same thing doesn't happen to them, causing them to suffer financially for the rest of the month like I have to now..
