Last year, I filed a grievance for the following reasons:
1.) P.A. Prescribed an anti-biotic that is on my “ do not take” list due to my auto-immune disease. My pharmacy caught it and attempted to call the Dr. office twice. No one returned the calls. I attempted to call over several weeks, no one returned my calls. During their office hours, their answering agency would take multiple messages. Yet, no return calls. I finally filed a grievance.
2.) As everyone knows, it has become almost impossible to find good health care with competent drs and staff. This year, I had a thyroid tumor which needed STAT referral. During my office visit, I had my annual blood work draw in addition to my tutor. I requested referrals for a colonoscopy and cardiologist and an endocrinologist on March 4,2024.
Two weeks of waiting, with each week a few attempts to call the office, with no success !! To make the matters worse, I called my insurance to determine if my pending authorizations were in the works. To my astonishment, these referrals were never submitted!!! Two weeks of no communications, I decided to pay the office a visit, the staff member who inputs the referrals looked at my file, apparently, the P.A I saw forgot to request the most important request- an endocrinologist to give me an ultrasound biopsy. Not to mention, I’ve been getting pains around my heart, which was addressed too. Does it take for me to have a heart attack in order to seek ER at the hospital? What the hell is happening to our health care?!
I am beyond frustrated with my current primary dr and office staff. Looking at 3 other possible replacement is not encouraging either. All 2 star reviews.
We have to be our own advocate and take our healthcare into our own hands.
