Dr Rich is my Dad's oncologist. If clinical trials are what you want, he is the doctor for you. He puts clinical trials and referrals to Huntsman's before listening and caring about what his patients want. He made my Dad and Mom feel extremely pressured to go to Huntsman's for a clinical consult after they told him they weren't interested in clinical trials. He even made them make an appointment with Huntsman's before they left his office. It really makes me wonder just how much money he receives for referrals.
He is not empathetic. I imagine he has probably delivered sad news to many patients across the years, maybe he has become numb to how that news impacts his patients and their families because his delivery of that information is poor. At least this was the case for our family, when he told my Dad he had 90 days to live.
I believe he is knowledgeable about his practice, he simply needs to prioritize his patients and see them as people. He needs to work on improving his interactions with his patients and actually care about them and listen to what they want.
