Saw her when I was 19 and got a sleep study. I had a sleep study positive for sleep apnea and a sleep study that was negative. She decided the first positive study was invalid despite the fact that sleep apnea is known to vary from night to night, and blamed my fatigue issues on me being depressed even though I’ve never received an official diagnosis for depression. It turned out that I had a multitude of endocrine, neurological, and autoimmune disorders causing my fatigue. But she only saw me as an emotional teenage girl.In part due to her judgment, I didn’t start CPAP treatment until 4 years later when I saw another, much more informed sleep medicine and pulmonology doctor. I felt much better after starting CPAP.
