4 Reviews on “Dr Ethan Binder, MD | Hematologist/Oncologist | Presbyterian Cancer Care in Rio Rancho”

  • In my view, Binder is a mediocre physician who has no problem deviating from ethical guidelines and professional standards of care. In my case, he was treating me (poorly) for a hematologic condition. He learned I was diagnosed with cancer. In fact, he even asked to see the pathology report on my biopsy.

Since he was my treating hematologist/oncologist, I requested a referral for a urologic oncologist and a radiation oncologist. He messaged me via myChart a day later, informing me that since he was (technically) my hematologist and not my oncologist, he was not obligated to provide the referral.

I was only mildly surprised, as I learned during the past 3-4 years that he lacked the critical thinking skills necessary to treat my hematologic condition. He failed to consult with a hepatology specialist, and as a result, was clueless when it came to understanding the interaction between my liver condition and my hematologic condition. For example, he didn’t even understand the distinction between NAFLD and NASH. He was operating under the misapprehension that these two are the same — such a fundamental and flawed mistake. Thankfully, I just located a hematology/oncology provider who does understand.
