This is my first ever review of anything and I am sad to say we had an overall negative experience with Dr. Punger's office. Like several others, at first, we were excited to find a doctor that appeared to be more "holistic," however, over time, we found the staff to be extremely disrespectful and rude if you ever raised a question or concern, especially regarding bills received via mail. There were several visits where Nurse Luz and Office Manager Rita made us feel incompetent. We continued seeing them in hopes that we misinterpreted our visits and that the next visit would be better, but we always came away from there feeling disrespected and like hardly anything was done. If you questioned any of Dr. Punger's strong opinions that she makes known, she will also tell you to do your own research, all in the same breath. Although it is good to do your own research, if your conclusion differed from hers, she would not be the one to have the patience to show you how she came to her conclusions. There were several socially awkward moments as well with her. From confirming with friends who saw her, it felt like the patients were the ones responsible for ordering our own blood work. If you want more feedback on your baby's well being visit other than "he/she looks fine," you may want to look elsewhere.
They will bill you for EVERYTHING! For example, if you make an appointment for your newborn baby, you can expect a bill in the mail submitted and coded through insurance as a "lactation consultant," even though the appointment was made as a "routine wellness check up" for your child. They justify this by taking the vitals of the mother and asking how breastfeeding is going, even if you have no issues and nothing was done to the mother. I have seen this done multiple times. Sadly, they will also bill you to come in for a sick visit (which is fair) but then AGAIN to read basic lab results over the phone. Some doctor offices commonly do this, but I appreciate the practices I've experienced that do not bill to read results over the phone.
The 2 pros:
Nurse Practitioner Kerrie is amazing! We loved how she had bedside manner AND provided knowledge and wisdom. We would see Kerrie if she started her own practice in a heartbeat!
They are also quick to respond via email if you needed prescriptions.
