In July of 2023, I had my first appointment with this office. I had to wait a very long time to see the doctor because it was so busy. On January 17th, 2024, I had my second appointment to get measured for cataract surgery. They said that in order to receive the go-ahead for surgery, I had to see a retina specialist. The day after seeing the Retina Dr., I called Dr. Dornic's office. A young woman I spoke with on the phone told me I would be hearing from the office manager. She didn't give me a call. I made another call to the office two weeks later. The Office Manager picked up the phone this time. We had a conversation about her getting my insurance authorized. It didn't require authorization, she informed me.
It was advised that I obtain an authorization by my insurance company. I informed the office manager, who I assume is the doctor's wife, that I would not undergo any surgery without an insurance authorization. I followed up with Dr. Dornic's office on February 15, ’24. The phone was answered by the Office Manager. When I asked who I was speaking to, she would not give me her name. She started yelling at me the moment she heard me use the word "Authorization". She continued talking about how busy she was and the other offices she worked in. To calm her down, I reassured her again that I was a reasonable and patient person. She promised to give me a call on Friday, February 16, 24. She hasn’t.
We are discussing my finances, time, health, and vision. She is mistaken if she believes she can get away with mistreating a patient in this way!

Responding: You are not unhappy or apologetic in how I was spoken to and treated. I saw a reputable retina specialist who said it was very minor and had no concerns at all. Do not blame your treatment on this! You know I checked with my insurance company. It was a covered procedure but you did not want to pursue the authorization and refused to return my calls. Very shady in my opinion.
