I've been seeing the Coopers pretty much since they opened in Bradenton, which I think was right after they got out of the army... YEARS ago. Dr. Cathy was pregnant with her first baby when I first saw them over in the other building, and let me tell you; they are the best in Bradenton.
Dr Cathy (and Dr Chris) was there when I got my cancer diagnosis and was in the hospital for four weeks with numerous surgeries and side effects. They were really there for me when I needed them.
These days, Dr Andrew Clark is my primary, but I see Sean almost as much with hip injections and ultrasounds. Dr Clark is great. Since he's a sports doctor, he also does my OMT (orthopedic manipulation therapy), too, and I don't have to pay extra for a chiropractor or PT (just what you'd pay for a primary care visit). I've known him since he first started out there, too, as he diagnosed my shingles when he was just a young puppy doctor. I remember how excited he was when he figured out what it was and he RAN out of the room to go get Dr Cathy to verify it with her (she was my primary at the time). The twinkle in his eye was contagious. I also remember he dressed up as Superman that Halloween (yup, picture it, folks 😂). Great doctors with great personalities and senses of humor!
The staff is always friendly toward me and USUALLY knows who I am when I walk in to register. I guess it doesn't hurt that I'm there every month for my OMT. They've had some turnover at the front desk lately. IDK if it's people leaving or if they got promoted, but there are some new people up there checking people in when you first get there. As always in service industries, the rule is to be friendly to them, and they'll be friendly to you. Be an arse and who knows what you'll get.
Basically, I love everyone at Cooper Family Medical. The Coopers have really made a great little family here, something they can be proud of. I believe both of the Coopers have now retired. I'm going to be very sad when I leave the area and have to find a new primary care doctor. I don't know who's going to be able to live up to these big shoes... Literally (Dr. Andrew is like 7' tall!) and figuratively (Dr. Cathy was THE best doctor I've ever had. She spent 45 minutes with me each visit before spending that much time with patients was a thing). If she didn't know something, she looked it up right there with me in the room (and let me tell you, I was the patient who taught her a few things. Lol). She stood up for me when I was in the hospital and they weren't doing what they were supposed to be doing... (Oh, Mama, did she stand up 😂).
