Made an appointment on Monday for that Friday at 2:30 for a check up and referral for an obgyn to start prenatal care for my first pregnancy. They even called me 2 hours prior to my appointment to confirm. When I got there they opened up the door for us and asked why we were there. I told them I had an appointment and gave them my name. They went back inside to go confirm and later came out to ask if I was vaccinated for Covid. I let them know I wasn’t and the lady said “oh” I was a little confused so I asked “if I’m not vaccinated the doctor won’t see me?” She then said “no I’m sorry”. I laughed out of shock and just brushed it off because I didn’t want to argue so I told them “okay that’s fine never mind I’ll call around for another doctor, thank you” and began walking away. My husband who saw I was hurt got upset and told them “really, you won’t see her just because of that” and the lady said “unfortunately no, you have to come with a negative Covid test or be vaccinated” when this was never mentioned to me at all prior to my visit. I then asked if she can at least ask the doctor to refer me to a gynecologist because I’m pregnant and I want to start prenatal care and that’s all I care about. She then said she would go and ask. She later came out and said they would look for a Covid test to test me real quick and if it’s negative they will see me and asked if I have insurance. I said okay that’s fine and handed them all the information needed and we continued waiting outside. They then came back outside and told me that I don’t even have insurance and it has been canceled which confused me because I know for a fact I have insurance and I’ve been paying for it. Not wanting to deal with them anymore because it was raining and cold and they had us waiting outside while others were let in, I just told her okay I’ll call my company and see what’s up with that and left. Today I emailed HR and told them what had happened and they confirmed that I do have insurance and it is active and they shouldn’t have turned me away. I honestly feel like they just didn’t want to see me because of my vaccination status. No disrespect to the lady that helped us because she was nice and seemed like she really wanted to help. I just didn’t like my experience there at all and wanted to give anyone that plans on going here a heads up.
