I recently completed the 10-session Rolfing program with Cara Ernest, and I can honestly say it was a game-changer for both my body and mind! Before starting, I was dealing with extreme tightness, pain in my thighs, hips, back, and chronic discomfort that even made sleeping difficult. I had tried other therapies like massage and chiropractic care, but nothing seemed to address the deep-rooted tension that I was experiencing, especially in my thighs, which were so sensitive that even the lightest touch would cause bruising and intense pain.
From the very first session, I started to notice changes. After just the second session, I was able to touch and massage my thighs without pain—something I hadn’t been able to do in several months! It was such a relief to feel the tightness starting to release, and I could feel the tension in other areas of my body dissipating as well. My posture improved noticeably, and I felt more grounded and light after each session. Despite the work to my body seeming gentle, I often found myself needing a nap afterward, but in the best way—it was as if my body was recalibrating and integrating everything we had worked on.
Cara is incredibly knowledgeable about how the body’s fascia, muscles, ligaments, and bones all work together. She took the time to explain how misalignments in one area could affect so many other parts of the body. I really appreciated how she made sure to check in before each session about how my body felt and whether I had any specific concerns. Her calming presence and the inviting, private atmosphere of her studio made the whole process feel safe and nurturing. There was soft spa-like music playing in the background, which added to the serene environment.
The Rolfing technique is unlike anything I’ve experienced—there’s light touch, gentle movement, and some techniques that might seem unrelated, but everything is incredibly intentional and interconnected. I’ve completed Rolfing once before with another practitioner, but this time the results were even more profound. After finishing all 10 sessions, I feel fantastic—both physically and emotionally—and I plan to return for maintenance sessions to continue keeping my body in tune.
