I've struggled with back, neck, and hip pain for over 5 years and have tried a variety of treatments with so-so success. A friend suggested I try ROLFing, and my physical therapist recommended reaching out to Casey, so I signed up for his 10 session series. While somewhat similar to both massage and physical therapy, the body work in ROLFing is generally far more subtle than either, yet is very effective. My first real "Ah-Ha!" moment was when Casey was working with my feet, having me try to flex my toes and ankle at the same time, which I really could not do well at all. By the end of that session, I had control in my feet that I don't know I've ever had before in my life, and the toe/foot flex issues was resolved.
The remaining sessions had similar effects throughout other parts of my body: I remember walking out of sessions feeling like my head was lighter and my neck less compressed, or that my legs just moved with more ease than they had beforehand. That said, as much as I enjoyed (and will continue to reap the benefits of) the bodywork, I really appreciated the talks I had with Casey, and his amazing attention to detail. He was able to tell me about subtle movements and habits in my body no other medical professional ever brought up (like my tendency to have my head rotated slightly to the right, and my eyes to the left to compensate), which gave me a whole new level of things to pay attention to. No matter how I felt walking into his studio, I always left feeling encouraged, uplifted, and a bit wiser. In addition to everything else he did for me, Casey got me back into a regular yoga practice, which should only help the healing continue.
Casey is both a fantastic body work practitioner and an excellent coach, both of which I am incredibly grateful for. Whether your're working through a chronic pain condition like myself, or just think you could use a little help making your body (and mind!) function a little better, I'd strongly recommend giving his ROLFing series a try.
