Despite trying via email, survey, and phone to reach a manager at Cary OBGYN, there seems to be no one that cares about their service. I am hoping by leaving a thorough review, I can save many others from the troubles I have experienced at this practice.
I have used Cary OBGYN for over 10 years and have had mediocre experiences during the majority of that time, but I can not ignore the most recent failings of a particular doctor with this practice.
My last two experiences with Dr. Elita Wycloff speak to her lack of patient care and bad attitude. I saw her in 2022 and tried to have a conversation about my PCOS condition, requesting a referral to an Endocrinologist, to which she answered "Just Exercise". At best this is an uneducated and ignorant thing to say since it is not the medical solution for this condition. I had to repeatedly ask for blood work to help determine what was causing some symptoms I was having, and she finally agreed to do that bloodwork, which to no surprise came back unusual. NO one form the office ever called me or spoke to me about the result. They put them in my chart with a note that said to follow-up with my primary or an endocrinologist in the future if symptoms continued. This was not a referral but a side note. Fast forward to 2024- my primary did listen and I was sent a referral to endocrinology and have had great success. My Dec 2024 regular checkup was scheduled with Dr. Wycoff. This appointment was awful. She kept telling me I was only having success because I am on Metformin, which I am not on. I had to tell her 3 different times I am not on any medication- I finally had to interrupt her and ask her if she read my chart at all because she also claimed she sent me to a Endocrinologist, which she didn't. She refused to listen to the point she showed me the notes from 2022, to which I asked, did you call me? Did your office send a referral- nope! She was speechless at that point because she knew she could not continue to lie to my face about her lack of care. She kept saying for PCOS you exercise and take metformin like it was the only facts she knew, and it might be the only thing she knows, but that is not accurate or safe to be telling all PCOS patients blindly. She clearly needs to expand her knowledge base for the sake of her patients or admit she doesn't know when she so clearly doesn't know. She needs to LISTEN to what someone is saying to her and pay attention. She had a bit of an attitude when I questioned her, but I have learned to stand up for myself and my health and there is nothing wrong with correcting a doctor when they repeatedly state incorrect information such as what medications I am taking (when I am not on that medication at all).
It is disappointing that the office itself doesn't care to follow-up with a aftercare survey that stresses doctor error, and simply doesn't respond to email and phone message requests to talk to a manager.
This creates unsafe medical situations when Doctors would rather argue a point then listen and HEAR what they are being told. She made several errors during this one visit for lack of listening. She is obnoxious in her tone and dismissive of medical concerns.
I will not return to this practice and I would highly advise anyone seeking a caring and attentive OBGYN to go elsewhere.
