Awful experience! Wasted afternoon. Lack of communication. I showed up today for my appointment that was scheduled at 1:30pm at the Williamsville location. I had completed all the necessary forms online that I received from BMG via text and email. When I arrived I followed the text message prompts for check-in and sat inside and waited for my appointment. An employee came out and brought me back to a desk where her and a manager told me that as of today, 4/01/2024, they no longer participate with my insurance. I was being understanding of the situation and asked why I wasn't informed prior to my arrival. They claim they just found out and that because I checked in via text, their receptionist at the front desk couldn't get a hold of me. I'm not sure what they meant by this because I never received a call, text, or email. Zero notification until I was already in the waiting room expecting to be seen. I left the office and contacted my insurance provider who verified that the office and doctor ARE participating with my plan. I called BMG back to speak to someone about what happened and was connected to a billing supervisor. When I explained what occurred today and that I was told they no longer accept my insurance, she said that it wasn't for that reason at all. It was actually because I haven't been seen since 2019 and that after 3 years I'm considered a new patient. If that's the case then why was I scheduled in the first place?! I have over ten years of experience handling patient scheduling, insurance and claims. There is absolutely no excuse for this and it is extremely unprofessional. I spent the rest of the day calling around multiple places, including hospitals to try to find somewhere to get me in day of because of the pressing symptoms I've been experiencing. Unfortunately for me, I was unable to find anywhere else to go that had an ENT available and will have to continue to call around tomorrow. I'm very disappointed and frustrated with how the entire situation was handled and the fact that I was being LIED to about my insurance. I called and made this appointment March 19th, took a day off to come in, drove 20 minutes each way and sat in the waiting room for another 20 minutes after my appointment time just to be turned away because of what seems to be a staff members error. Never have I experienced anything like this before with another office. I hope that a manager looks into this and that the employees pay closer attention to details pertaining to patient appointments and communicate any changes in a timely manner.
