My tumor was quite massive, about 1/4 of my brain in size, and we really had no idea how well a brain surgery could possibly go with a tumor so large. From the second he introduced himself to me and my family, we knew he was the right surgeon for the job. He was clearly very knowledgeable and he was extremely confident in his ability to do the surgery well. Originally we were told I was going to need a shunt and that I was going to have to remain under anesthesia for several days following the operation. However, the surgery went so well I was pulled out immediately. I was awake that evening and walking on my own the next morning. I cannot express my gratitude for Dr. Dlouhy’s amazing and careful work. My incision was extremely long and encompassed nearly the entire area of my head. It has now been 8 months since my brain surgery and I cannot feel or see my scar. My surgery was done more perfectly than my family and I could ever have imagined. I have absolutely no side effects from the surgery whatsoever; my cognitive and motor abilities are exactly as they were before I went in. I was 19 when I was diagnosed, and I turn 20 next month. Without Dr. Dlouhy and his advanced neurosurgical expertise, I would not be alive today.
