I changed jobs and had no other option than a Hometown Health (HHS) HMO. I had very few options and could not keep my physician I have had for several years. I had been paying 1300$ a month for Cobra insurance for 3 months prior to the switch to HHS. It was nothing but painful from the get go. I make no hesitation to discuss my poor experiences with this insurance owned by Renown Healthcare. I have several medications (non narcotic or benzodiazepines) that have required prior auth in the past. This is anon issue. The issue was my first visit and examination, Dr. Bellard was not engaged, I can chalk things up to being a bad day but this was not my only poor experience (they all were). I’m not saying Dr. Bellard is incompetent but I didn’t felt heard and this translated when calling to speak to his staff regarding questions and my needs. The staff didn’t listen and would often assume what I was asking. Several times I had to drive to the office to resolve concerns that really did not require me to do so. I have a great amount of patience and more through out our experience with covid. I recently left a job (voluntarily) that provided well and took more than a 15k pay cut for a few reasons, one being Me and my families terrible experience with HHS and my experience with Dr. Bellard and his staff. My new PPO starts in a few days and I am happy to be returning to my previous physician Dr. Jeremy Bearfield from Northern Nevada Medical. I’ve kept this as professional as I can despite my very intense negative feelings. I know many health care providers pay to have unfavorable reviews screened out or removed and I’ll be surprised if this one actually posts.
