I give 3 stars because I think most of the staff is nice and friendly and tries to be ethical. I've been coming here for several years but recently have had a few issues with them.
To start, my insurance changed at the beginning of last year. I provided them all my new insurance information, but they kept billing my old insurance. I found this out when I went in for a routine cleaning last year and Abe, the ipad finance guy, told me I needed to pay for my routine cleaning out of pocket because they lost my new insurance information. I told him I wouldn't be doing that, I have text messages showing I sent them everything and they received it a month prior. Abe told me it would be "better for my finances" if I just paid it out of pocket and sought reimbursement from my insurance. I refused. He said he would call me the next day to confirm my new insurance information since I didn't have it on me at the moment. He never called. I called them like a month later, gave them the information again that I'd already given them and they lost. Then I went fore my next routine cleaning and confirmed that they were able to bill and be paid through my insurance for my cleaning, which they did. Great!
Now, I had a filling fall out and it needs to be redone. Abe is insisting I prepay for the service. No thanks. I have never had a medical office demand prepayment for a service that hasn't been done yet. I won't do that and it seems like a money grab or like the dental office is in financial trouble and trying to float costs. Anyway, I'll pay when I go to my appointment next week and the services are completed.
Dr. Frye and her hygienist are nice and very informative, they've been able to fit me in when I had a dental emergency awhile back, and I've never had problems with the other staff. Just the finance guy who wants payment unnecessarily. It seems like he works on commission or somehow gets penalized if they don't get paid for something. I've been going here for years and never have I not paid for services rendered. I still laugh with my partner that he said it would be "better for my finances" if I paid out of pocket for a routine cleaning instead of just offering to correct their error of losing my new dental insurance information.
