This review is not based on one interaction - it's a cumulative perspective formed over several years and multiple interactions.
This place does not meet the quality standards I expect as a Costco member, and the last experience I had there was the straw on the camel's back.
1. Trying to reach the front desk to make an eye appointment is always a chore. My calls typically go unanswered, and when I leave a message requesting a call back to schedule, it's ignored.
2. When I was finally able to reach someone during this last interaction, they were rude, dismissive, and overall completely lacking in customer service skills.
3. The last time I made an appointment, I requested to be put on the books (given my difficulty securing an appointment previously) and let staff know there may be a conflict but I would confirm that immediately after I was off the phone with them and would call back within the cancellation window (24 hours from appointment) if I couldn't make it. Their staff became immediately confrontational, saying "We can't make an appointment for you unless you're ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN you can make it." First, WHO SAYS THAT? Second, I was well outside the 24-hour cancellation window...so why was that even an issue? I will gladly pay more for an eye exam elsewhere if it means I don't have to interact with someone so lacking in professionalism.
