Visited this place for the first time today and found it to be a very welcoming community, almost disconcertingly so (but not in a bad way). At the same time, no one backs you into a corner in an attempt to permanently "recruit" you (which, if you're anything like me, is an extremely off-putting aspect of some churches—or any religious organization, really). The commitment to social justice (you know, like what Jesus cared about?) is something that has always attracted me about the UU denomination and I found that to be on open display both literally with the postings and literature made available in the lobby as well as in the pastor's sermon which I just barely made it in time for (I snuck in late). A positive, pleasant first experience. I do think I will be returning. And if you're reading this contemplating a first visit, maybe next time I will be one of the people to warmly welcome you....
