I don't get some of the hateful reviews here. What do people expect? A place of worship is inundated by rude, noisy, picture snapping tourists and they expect to be treated like royalty. With reasonable expectations, and due respect for a holy place, we visited the church twice. On the first occasion, a funeral mass was about to get underway, and we were asked to leave by one of the docents. Perfectly reasonable. As we exited, he offered us a private overview of the history of Santa Fe as well as the church. I believe his name was Patrick. What a knowledgeable fellow! He had books and pictures in his briefcase, and we sat with him on a bench for over 30 minutes and it was delightful. On our second visit, we were late getting there, and it was almost closing time. The docents were firm but polite about us leaving. One in particular, Michael, was so kind. he quickly pointed out the most interesting features of the church, and we later discovered that we had both been married in the same church in New York, some 45 years ago. How's that for coincidence?
