Whenever we visit someplace from out of town it's always a gamble what well find at the local parish. In my mind there are three signs of a good parish: Adoration, Confessions, and Communion. St. Frances Cabrini stands out for its reverence in all three. They offer frequent hours for Adoration of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, and many opportunities to pray in community -- the Rosary, the Stations of the Cross, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. They even provide kneelers for communicants who wish to receive the Eucharist while kneeling. That's extraordinary! (A wonderful throw back to the Good Old Days.)
Someone commented on the pre-recorded music, but I think it's ingenious and very reverent. (So many parishes have such awful music that it becomes a terrible distraction.)
The pastor's homilies are always challenging and enlightening on a spiritual level. "You know a tree by its fruit", and this parish has the fruit of drawing in an amazing number of young families. And then there's the thrift store which is such a treat! Why doesn't every parish do this? It's a win/win for the donators and shoppers alike, as well as the "less fortunate" who benefit in two ways: an affordable place to shop and the charitable outreach it supports. May God continue to bless the parish of St. Frances Cabrini and particularly its Pastor.
