Thank you all for a truly wonderful Saturday morning Soto Zen service while visiting from NY. This warm welcoming sangha sits shikantaza in a well-maintained space with plenty of zafu and zabuton cushions and comfortable chairs set up in addition to some fantastic ancestral photos and beautiful Japanese calligraphy wall hangings. A reading set us up well for the two sets of zazen meditation (facing inward to each other as opposed to outward to the wall) with kinhin walking meditation in between, followed by some traditional group chants with gassho bows (none of us did floor prostrations) and a great eko dedication of merit. At tea served afterward in the next room, I was and am immensely appreciative to have been able to ask questions and get to know this delightful sangha. Thank you all for this treasured experience. If ever in Westchester, Yorktown Zen welcomes you.
