Mea Culpa. I am so sorry for the harm I caused while I was a member of this group. I was born and raised there, as the second daughter of the leaders.
When I recognized the deep harm being caused by the group, and my inability to change it, I left. Despite many attempts to stay connected to my family, I have been shunned by them for 21 years.
The excruciating pain I experienced as a result of the abuse I was subjected to there, as well as being disowned by my own family for going to a different church, has taken me a lifetime to recover from.
Requesting and being denied the opportunity to say, ‘I love you,’ to my dying father, even if only over the phone, causes pain to this day.
The abuse perpetrated here needs to stop. It is wrong to treat fellow humans with such cruelty.
I feel grateful for the life of love I live now, and hope and pray only the best for those left.
May we all find healing and peace.
