The group that cares for this park is so passionate it warms my heart, even when the bad Hilo elements try to spoil the beauty there. The lawns are always mowed, trees trimmed, trash picked up. All the multi-level projects like cleaning the ponds and rebuilding the retaining stone walls is stellar. There are even groups that work together to get the wild kitties fixed. This is a magical place that brings peace and joy to all that visit. The trees are so epically ancient and beautiful. A short walk from here is coconut island which is also a fun walk across the sea bridge. I wouldnt visit at night (like most place in Hilo bay) but morning and day are awesome. Good for walking, biking, and (even though they are not supposed to) skateboarding. Right across the street is Hilo Bay Cafe, its a little expensive, but good.
