Now there is the food service...you know there is always one lady who thinks the food is hers, already planning her take home plates...she had the audacity to say something "you back...you know we have to serve other people..." first of all, I only had one piece of chicken and a serving of stuffing...2nd the plate was not for me but for the pregnant granddaughter...3rd I waited until everyone was severed before i came back for seconds 4th -10th the food ain't yours and what in your brain gave you the right to say something to me and not the others that came before me...I don't know your name, but your were the short, dark skinned lady serving between the tall lady at the rice station and the young girl serving the chicken. You are the reason people don't go to church...if this was my first encounter with the church (and it was) I would not return. The key in service is to "serve", to serve as Jesus would do, to all the people, with a joyous heart and a joyful spirit. In the moment, take into account the "why" we here, the occasion, a funeral...the last thing anyone needs during their time of bereavement is the nasty server lady experience! BTW we were in the car observing you leave with multiple plates out the back entrance...trifling...sad...and a poor representative of the church, Christianity, and Jesus. You are the why Christians get a bad name...there is something wrong in your spirit and you need to ask God for forgiveness and do better! Serve with a smile and with the right spirit.
Note to pastor, you get what you get when you inherit a church, the good, the bad, the cheerful, and those that need work...sometimes we have to accept some folks for being the way they are but we have a choice in putting them to work in the church...in front of the audience or patrons...she should be way back and away from patrons until she has a change of heart.
To the mean lady in the serving line, I hope you read this and have a change of heart...a renewing of the spirit, all is not lost you just have to do better...have a renewing of the mind and the spirit of serving! Read some books on servant leadership.
Be blessed!
