We started going to Gilroy's First Baptist Church after moving to Gilroy and looking for a church to call home. I initially didn't consider this church because we are not "Baptist" and have always attended non-denominational churches (for no particular reason). That being said, we ended up giving this church a try and we discovered it to be a very welcoming community of believers.
What attracted us to this church is the ample opportunity to serve which is what we wanted. From worship, kids ministries, out-reach, small groups and more, there is ample opportunity to get involved and make an impact. Pastor Grant is also very warm and welcoming and his messages are very approachable and impactful. Our girls really enjoy the Sunday classes because the class size is small and allows for more personal interaction.
Worship music covers everything from modern worship songs many church's today play to some of the older worship songs from the 90s and 2000s along with the occasional great hymn or two thrown in. If you enjoy playing an instrument or singing, they are always welcoming new musicians to join the team!
Small groups will be starting in the Fall of 2017 and we are looking forward to being part of this new program. We are looking forward to making deeper connections with other members of the church through weekly gatherings sharing food and fellowship together.
All in all, we are happy we started attending Gilroy's First Baptist Church and we look forward to the exciting things God is doing in it!
