Great restaurant, food, service, and atmosphere. We were seated promptly and water arrived quickly. The staff was friendly and attentive. The side salad had house made croutons. Restaurants have dropped croutons to my disappointment, so it was great to have them again. The dressing was house made, delicious.
My wife had the NY strip and she thought it was the best steak she'd had in years. She is a keto dieter and has become a beef flavor/quality expert. The ribs were great. The sweet BBQ sauce was good with the pork. The pasta we ordered for sides was homemade from scratch pasta that was locally sourced.
We asked, everything, the fresh bread, the pasta, the meats, all of the food we were served, was either made from scratch at the Waterloo or locally sourced from nearby farms and bakeries. You could tell. It was really fresh and well made.
They have a full bar with a friendly crowd. The old fashioned I ordered was complete with a Luxardo cherry. Waterloo isn't the biggest town in the world but if you're here, definitely visit The Waterloo Restaurant. We came in a half hour before close on a Thursday night and it was a full house.
There's an entertaining story about the battle of Waterloo, not with Napoleon, but locally with a stolen canon on the back of the menu. There is a wall that honors local military heros, and they sell some pretty neat merch, including dog toys, although it is a service dog only restaurant.
