tried a new local spot for Valentine's Day and just wanted to share how awesome of an experience it was! my boyfriend told me about this hidden gem, Sims House that was owned by a family in town who saved this historical home from being leveled and replaced by a car wash. The atmosphere was very intimate and unique, as most of the interior was still original to the home. As you walk through the house, there are large prints of historical documents relating to the home, with some letters even being addressed to the home from former US Presidents — how cool! We were greeted by the owner and his friendly staff, who had a set menu for Valentine's Day. They also provided us with complimentary prosecco and a rose, which was a nice touch. While we devoured their fantastic mahi ceviche appetizer, the owner made a very personal speech, sharing some of the history of the home and other structures like it in town that are all at risk of being erased from history forever, and how important it is to preserve them and share their history. As someone who is also part of a family owned business, I understand the importance of supporting local small businesses, and the impact reviews can have for them. The owner even made it a point to mention just how much they appreciated everyone's business and would appreciate if we all could spread the word and I was happy to oblige! I would 100% recommend the Sims House for anyone looking for a new date night spot, event or party venue, or even just a nice dinner out that isn't the usual place in town. I had their snapper picatta over linguine, and my boyfriend had the filet oscar with potatoes and asparagus, which were *chefs kiss*. It felt like you were eating dinner with their family, while also still having that small, intimate date night feel. The owner even shared with us where the snapper and filet were sourced from (all local!) Their outdoor atmosphere has the same inviting and intimate feel, but unfortunately due to yesterday's rain, we did not get a chance to enjoy it (guess we have to come back!). I can't wait to make this hidden gem our new spot and see what else they have on their menu. I believe their menu changes by the day, they're only open for dinner, and are reservation only, so keep the Sims House in mind for your next date night!
