First time at Peasants feast! Went with my mom, dad, and best friend to celebrate my parents's 25th wedding anniversary. Overall the experience was so fantastic and the staff, just so delightful. I can see why this restaurant is in the Michelin guide because the food really sang; it was phenomenal. Here is everything we had and my thoughts:
Fennel Soup - we had a small taster and I wish I'd gotten a bowl. I could have taken a pint of this soup home it was a wonderful balance of savory and creamy. The fennel brittle was my favorite part it added the best crunch
Crispy asparagus - ok can't lie, tempura fried asparagus with whipped pimento cheese....yes please!
Yellowtail Crudo - the freshness of this cured yellowtail with the sauce and the strawberries was very yummy
Foccocia - it was perfectly crispy on the outside while being soft and light on the inside. Just the right amount of oil drizzled in top
Beets salad - new item debut today. U normally dislike beets because they're so earthy. The beets were smoked so it elevated that earthy taste for me but the overall flavor combination didn't make me hate it!
Cavatelli cacio de pepe - Cacio is my favorite Italian pasta and I really enjoyed their spin on this classic dish. I would have preferred a creamier base but the pasta was al dente and made the dish sing
Pork Schnitzel - the added fresh and cooked stone fruit on top the schnitzel with the green sauce was super yummy
Saag Paneer - arguably one of my favorite Indian dishes out there and this did NOT disappoint in any way. The balance between the spices, creamy base, and the use of spinach and collard greens. I fell in love from the first bite. The homemade garlic naan served with the paneer, talk about umami. The flavors were perfection.
Steak Frites - mid rare coulette steak with fried potatoes chunks with a homemade A1 sauce and Garlic Aoli. Simple but elevated dish, so good.
Chess Pie - Grandma Jan's recipe is out of this world. It was served with a cherry compote and homemade whipped cream.
Strawberry Lavender hand pie w/ Chamomile ice cream- Crispy, savory, sweet, creamy....what more do you need in a dessert!?
