I received an e-mail from Moccasin Wallow a few weeks back detailing all the improvements made to the golf course. (Refer to below). Skeptical, and against my better judgement, my wife and I gave it another try. (Last year, it was not so good).I am delighted the course lived up to the e-mail. Such an improvement over the past few years and much better than the golf course up the road. I caught 2 grounds keepers in the parking lot discussing ways to improve. (It all begins with the right team and attitude). Please come try the course. It still has some weedy areas, but the greens are great. Also, how do you keep the pond between hole 12 and 13 so clear. I love supporting businesses which put the customer first and are not afraid to acknowledge areas to improve, and then act on them. The extra star is for effort and for each grounds keeper waving at us from their mowers, while we passed.Please keep up the tremendous effort!!!Moccasin E-mail:Golf course updateThe dog days of summer are here and it has been extremely warm as of late. We wanted to give everyone an update midway thru summer as we are in the end of July. Our Aerification went well on May 25th as we spent 4 days doing as much as we could to get the putting surface playable. After verticutting, top dressing and fertilizing the greens have really healed up nicely. The greens are not overly fast but are rolling smooth with a stimpmeter reading of around 10. Our roller has been out of commission but had been in the repair shop at Toro and we expect it back any day. Once we start rolling the greens they will be the best we have ever had them. Our superintendent Rich has been doing a great job and is to be commended.Another reason our golf course has really excelled lately is that we have done a bunch of work to our reel and bed knife grinder machines and brought the Foley Rep to properly train our Mechanic on the best way to use the machines. Kendall has done an awesome job sharpening the reels and we are getting great cuts instead of pulling grass. The turf is getting healthier by the day and giving the course definition it had been lacking.We will be spraying fairways , tee boxes , and greens to suppress weed and insect control giving us a much better playing surface moving forward.To do the required maintenance we have decided that our last tee times on Mondays will be at 2:50 pm thru Labor Day. We will close the golf shop at that time to allow Rich and his staff to do their magic.Thank you all for your time and we look forward to seeing everyone.
