We were very enthusiastic to eat here as we enjoy authentic English food. It has been a while, but I lived in the UK for years, so I look forward to these experiences. Shepherds pie, bangers and mash in a hole, fish butty and Scotch eggs. These are some of our favourites. Unfortunately, we had an indoor table that was unclean, very sticky and asked for something to clean up. It is seat yourself, so that can happen, but it was quite slow. The Shepherds pie was more than bland. Salt from the caddy did nothing to help and the portion was exceptionally small for the cost. The order of a Scotch egg, one Scotch egg was $10 and almost no sausage covering half of the egg. The mustard for the egg was delicious. The bangers and mash were also quite bland, the sausages being quite good, but again, zero seasoning in the potatoes, not well mashed at all. The yorkshire pudding was presentable, but was also bland, as if there was no meat drippings in the pan at all. The fish butty is on a ciabatta roll??? The fish was flakey and the tartar was decent, but shoestring fries? Steak fries are more authentic as they capture more of the malt vinegar and salt. They were also supposed to be seasoned with rosemary, but as we know from the above....no rosemary at all, zero seasoning.
Our server was ill prepared as he stated to us upon arrival. He had forgotten our Scotch eggs appetizer...apologies Scotch egg. So our app came out half way though our meals. The beers were $12 each, this was a shock as this atmosphere does not read as either pretentious, nor upscale as there was a dusgusting amount of flies.
I do not recommend this venue.
