This restaurant is TRULY a hidden gem, I mean that. I'm a huge breakfast lover and I came here on a Sunday and had an absolutely fantastic time. The name of this restaurant is really quite modest for how fantastic it is. The service is just incredible. We were seated quickly (and even got to choose which table, which I always appreciate) and our server was very warm and helpful. Promptly brought our coffee over. Then, a woman who I assume to be the eponymous Jackie came to our table and took our order. She sat down like a guest at our table and took our order with care. Because it was a Sunday they were offering brunch, and she excitedly relayed all the special offerings for the occasion. She is an amazing saleswoman, I'll say that! She gestured to some beautiful chocolate chip croissants and boasted that they had just come fresh out of the oven. Next, she said that she handmakes the brunch-special crepes herself and enticed us with promises of Nutella, strawberries and blueberries. It sounded irresistible! We ordered them and they were so incredible, just as she described them. Everyone at the other tables stared and was jealous, as she showed off the beautiful, literal 'silver platter' that she had finely plated the crepes on, even taking the time to add whipped creme and powdered sugar! We had a veritable feast before us as we also ordered the country fried steak with sausage gravy, and hashbrowns. All incredibly delicious! The hashbrowns get a special mention for being incredibly crispy and perfectly browned! We also ordered fried green tomatoes - My boyfriend enjoys them, I myself had never had them before. I must say, I'm a fried green tomato lover now! They even came with a side of what must have been homemade herbed ranch, it was unmistakably fresh and delicious.
The atmosphere was 'down home' and comfortable, a quiet diner sort of aesthetic with a counter with stools, half booths, and sturdy wooden tables. Laid back, jazzy, classical music was playing at a low volume, so you could hear those around you and hold a conversation - not always possible in a busy diner! Interestingly, there was a rather large gift basket on display, and as part of our meal we were given 2 raffle tickets to get a chance to win it! It happens every Sunday apparently, but only between 12 and 1 pm! You have to be there when the winner is announced. We didn't get it this time, but we will be back soon and try again!
Overall I would give this restaurant a 10/10 if I could. Very few restaurants are like this, where you can genuinely feel the love of the staff and have food made with care. The tip you give also goes to all the staff in the restaurant, something I really appreciated. Give this place a try, you seriously will not be disappointed!
