Home Alone
Home Alone is one of the best, silliest Christmas movies that is a must-watch every year! Even if the movie did come out 30 years ago in the 1990’s, it’s still a family favorite decades later. The movie features a young Kevin McCallistar (Macaulay Culkin), who gets accidentally left behind while the rest of his family goes on Christmas vacation. He later finds out two burglars are coming to rob his house after they assume everyone has left for vacation. Little do they know that young Kevin is still home alone and has a few tricks up his sleeve. The movie also has multiple sequels, the next one featuring Macaulay Culkin, as well. The entire Home Alone franchise can be found on Disney+ and you can watch the trailer for the first Home Alone here!
The Polar Express

This is an animated classic that at its time was an amazing release. Its animation and visual styles were so shocking when it was released in 2004, as people had never seen anything like it before. Nowadays, its animation might not be as shocking, but it’s still a great Christmas watch. The movie revolves around a young boy doubting Christmas magic, who embarks on a magnificent journey of discovery within himself. He learns that the wonders and magic of life never fades for those who believe. The Polar Express can be watched on HBO Max, Amazon Prime, Redbox, and many other subscriptions! You can also watch the trailer here.
Elf

A classic starring Will Farrell who plays Buddy the Elf. Buddy is a human who was raised as an elf in the North Pole, who spends one Christmas season traveling all the way to New York in a hunt for his biological father. After he finally meets his cold, businessman father (James Caan), he reluctantly strikes a relationship with his child-like but fully adult son. Though it was released almost 20 years ago in 2003, it’s still a classic and a must-watch every Christmas season. You can find the trailer for Elf here and watch the movie itself on HBO Max.
The Princess Switch
Now onto a more modern Christmas film, we have The Princess Switch. Released in 2018, the movie features High School Musical Disney star Vanessa Hudgens. She plays two characters: one a sweet baker from Chicago and another as a duchess who is also the baker’s doppelgänger. When they cross paths, they switch places to live each other’s lives, hoping to ease some of the tensions in their everyday lives, without realizing the chaos they are about to face. And if you enjoyed the first one, there’s two more where Hudgens plays a third character! Watch the trailer for the first Princess Switch movie here and catch the movie on Netflix!
Love Hard
Our last movie is yet another modern Christmas movie, released in 2021. This movie stars Nina Dobrev who portrays a relationship advice column writer who surprisingly has trouble in her own personal love life. She ends up taking a chance on someone she met online but realizes she had been catfished by a certain shy guy (Jimmy Yang). As his apology for catfishing, he tries to set her up with the guy she initially thought she was meeting (Darren Barnett), but is in for a surprise when her feelings lead her elsewhere.
