Along its east and west coasts, there are an array of beaches to choose from. Below are some of the best beaches you can visit before the school year starts again and you’re stuck in your boring, beach-less hometown.
WAIKIKI BEACH, HAWAII
For any beach lover out there, you know Hawaii is flooded with dozens of gorgeous beaches that you can visit. One of them is known as Waikiki Beach. It is located on the south shore of Oahu, in the capital city of Honolulu. It is best known for its white sand beach, and is an international destination – one of the most frequented locations in all of Hawaii. It has a long stretch of this white sand, followed by turquoise blue water. Not only is it a great place to tan and swim, it is also filled with dozens of high-rises, delicious eateries, and lots of resorts to stay at while you vacation! SOUTH BEACH, FLORIDA
Now if traveling all the way out of the country into the islands of Hawaii is unattainable for you, consider a road trip down to Miami! South Beach is a district in Miami and is an area known for its beautiful beaches and exciting nightlife. The South Beach district even possesses the world’s largest collection of modern art deco architecture. During the time of World War II, many soldiers used this beach to train, but after the war, many of them stayed back and doubled the population of the area. When visiting the beach, visit places like the Lincoln Road pedestrian mall, aka South Beach’s premier shopping area. Go to Ocean Drive for that college spring break aesthetic, and be sure to eat out at some of the world class restaurants along the beach. CORONADO BEACH, CALIFORNIA
Coronado Beach is located in the city of Coronado, California. It opens at 6 am for visitors to come and set up chairs to build sandcastles, play in the water, and tan. This beach does have stricter guidelines than some of the others. It does not permit group activities or alcohol and has very strict no littering and no disturbing noise policies. There are also lifeguards present at every area to be able to watch over all visitors and ensure the utmost safety for all tourists. MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA
As someone who grew up in South Carolina and spent many weekends at Myrtle Beach, how could I not add it to the list? The city of Myrtle Beach is a residential community located at South Carolina’s east coast, right near the Atlantic. There are 35,000+ permanent residents and millions of tourists who vacation at the beach yearly. Myrtle Beach became a city in 1957. The name Myrtle came from the “wax myrtle,” a local shrub found all over the area, and was chosen in a name-the-town contest in 1900. Myrtle beach is also a great place for any aspiring golfer. With approximately 90 courses in the city, it’s often called the golf capital of the world. Check out the 60 mile stretch on the beach known as “Grand Strand” with its beautiful white beaches and games and eateries thrown across the strip.
