One of the Worst Marriott Experiences in 600+ Nights
We stayed at the AC Hotel Boston Cambridge with our two young kids, and unfortunately, this has been one of the worst Marriott experiences I’ve had — and that’s saying something after over 600 nights across the brand.
To start with the few positives: breakfast was fairly good, and most staff we interacted with were friendly. But that’s about where the good ends.
When we arrived late with two small children, the sofa bed wasn’t made. We called down for help, and instead of preparing the bed, housekeeping brought us a crib — which they didn’t know how to assemble. Eventually, we were told we had to do the sofa bed ourselves, including the sheets.
To make matters worse, the sofa bed didn’t come with a proper duvet — just a dirty, scratchy blanket that honestly reminded me more of something from a dog shelter than a Marriott hotel. When I called to request a real duvet, I was told flat-out that "this is not what we do." When I tried again another day, they simply hung up the phone.
Housekeeping only comes every other day, which is particularly inconvenient when you have kids in diapers and trash that needs to be taken out.
The sofa bed itself was incredibly uncomfortable — barely sleepable — and the general attitude at the front desk didn’t help. When I checked in, the woman at the front desk acted as if I was intruding on her texting session, barely looking up.
We were hoping for a comfortable, family-friendly stay. What we got felt more like a low-budget roadside stop with Marriott branding slapped on. Disappointed doesn’t begin to cover it.
