If I could write this review specifically about the trainers, I would!
The trainer I have been working with, Jenn, is incredible. She is personable, professional, intelligent, flexible, and talented. She helped me feel great on my wedding day, which I will never ever ever forget. She is so knowledgeable about how to modify exercises to meet specific needs, which I greatly appreciate. She has the capacity to work with ANYONE simply based on her skill and training. I have worked with many trainers over the years, but this is the first time I’ve wanted to keep working with one beyond my original timeline. I will happily continue working with Jenn for as long as she’ll have me!
Now, for the gym itself… At this point, I’m staying for Jenn. It’s clear that this location is not as important to their corporate office as the Hazel Dell location. The disparity is MASSIVE, just look at the reviews. A few months ago, the Hazel Dell gym was closed for remodel, so many members came over to use this location. I spoke to many of them, and they were appalled at the state of the East Vancouver location. In classes, I have talked to members who say they only come over to the East Vancouver location when their favorite class instructors are teaching over here. It’s so frustrating to pay such a high membership fee just to have run down equipment, horrible A/C (there is virtually zero air in the upstairs cardio area! Awful!), a moldy pool with no reopening in sight, and seemingly constant turnover of staff. In the year since I’ve joined, there are few if any positive changes that have occurred from my perspective. For example, I’m shocked members were never offered a discounted rate once the pool closed!
