Boomtown has been a favorite of ours for years. The newly renovated rooms are outstanding; bordering luxurious. However, this visit, we were stuck way back somewhere between the north and south towers, and we actually had to walk through an active construction zone to get to our room. I mean like navigating around materials, glass shower doors, over plastic, etc. Then, the room we were given was NOT one that had been renovated! It was perfectly adequate and nice, but not what we were expecting. It was baffling how we were on the third floor, but when using the north tower elevator, we had to get off on the fourth floor. We thought that was pretty funny. I'm not sure if the pool is indeed open (it was not on our last visit, even though it was advertised as being open). The lady who helped us at the front desk was curt and unwelcoming. We love the cocktail server that we've seen here many times, though! We have found that we have never come out ahead on the tables here; never. It's pretty suspect. Our success on the machines varies, as at any casino. We love Mel's Diner; the food is great! It's nice that Peet's is open now, too. This visit was disappointing, but I'm sure we'll be back to enjoy the completed renovation.
