ALDI in Roanoke

The store was busy with shoppers and associates busy stocking shelves. The store looked clean and maintained, with some products out of place on the shelves. Most items were shelved with similar items, but displays were in strange locations, such as onion mix in with juices. The non food "find of the day" aisle was very disorganized and looked like it had been heavily shopped. This aisle is renewed weekly with different items, which probably lead to unattended look. Overall, I recommendAldi for unusual foods, excellent cheese, wine and international selections. The cashier was very fast, efficient and helpful. Bring your own bags and a quarter, which you get back, for when turning in your shopping cart! 5/5/2023 The store was much more organized than the last time I shopped about a year ago. The shelves were nicely organized, well stocked, and easy to access. Even though food prices are high everywhere, I noted several items that were significantly cheaper than the larger grocery nearby! (See photos) The store was busy, but clean and all associates I noted were working hard stocking, organizing, or helping customers. Overall, it was a very pleasant shopping experience and I need to shop here more often! I always see such kindness when shoppers help others when finished with a cart and giving it to another, and refusing the quarter! It's great to "pay it forward"!

I love my local Aldi. I find the staff friendly and it's conveniently located. However I will sometimes have to stop by multiple times to get my preferred type of bread and milk because stock can vary but honestly that's everywhere these days. If you've never been to an Aldi here are some pointers: Bring a quarter to borrow a cart, you get your quarter back when you return the cart. The carts are oversized like you might find at a warehouse store like Sam's Club or BJ's or Costco. The store runs on a small crew so often there is only one cashier but they move fast and call for help when needed but if you go during a peak time like lunch time, around 5pm, or on the weekends be prepared to wait a few minutes in line to check out. You have to bag or box your own groceries so come prepared. They don't have plastic bags either but you may purchase paper or reusable bags. The Aldi Finds aisle aka The Aisle of Shame is full of interesting things you never knew you needed. Approach with caution. There are very few name brands and most goods are significantly cheaper while maintaining quality. Also they do not accept coupons.

Aldi is an absolute gem and deserves a full five-star rating! This store consistently delivers on quality, price, and convenience, making it my go-to for weekly groceries. The produce section is a standout. I always find fresh, vibrant fruits and vegetables, from crisp leafy greens and sweet berries to perfectly ripe avocados. They often have organic options at prices that simply can't be beaten by other local supermarkets. The quality for the cost is truly impressive. Their cheese selection is another highlight. Whether I'm looking for everyday shredded cheese or more gourmet options like their various cheddar blocks (the sharp white cheddar is a favorite!) or imported European cheeses, Aldi always delivers on flavor and value. Beyond the fantastic products, the overall shopping experience is excellent. The store is consistently clean and well-organized, making it easy to navigate and find what I need. And a huge bonus for those quick trips – the self-checkouts are a lifesaver! They're efficient and usually have short lines, getting you in and out with your bargain-filled cart in no time. For anyone in Roanoke looking for top-notch groceries without breaking the bank, Aldi is an undeniable winner.

Aldi is our go to grocery store for big shopping trips. It is not extremely convenient for quick trips but has amazing prices and service. I can’t get over how quickly I can get in and out with most everything I need. There are some items that sell out so if you go later in the day or certain times on the weekend you may not find everything you need but is so worth it.

So good. Get in here right when they open. A lot of really slow walking people with no sense of urgency, or the ability to perceive people around them come in later in the day. They will take up space and block you. If you are an autistic person like me this will bother you.

Groceries came out so much cheaper than at Food Lion or Kroger , I can safely say this is where I'm doing all my grocery shopping from now on. They have a cart return program, so if you need a cart, you put a quarter in and then return your cart to get the quarter back. They also don't do plastic bags, bring your own bags, or buy their paper bags. They have some name brand, but most of it is their own brand. They keep everything in the original cases, too, so there are no stocking shelves. All of these things help keep the prices low! I'd definitely recommend shopping here, just make sure you bring bags and know that you'll be bagging your own groceries! It's not for everyone but I love it.
